What have we been up to lately? 02/01/2012
It has been a while since my last post, so I thought I would update you on some of the happenings of our 7-12 T.A.G. program this year.
Some students and I are excited to be competing in a Battle of the Books Competition at the end of the month. The group has divided up over 20 titles comprised of fiction, non-fiction and plays to read and critique. They will receive their first round of trivia at the end of this month and we will go from there!
We are also approaching the annual Conference Knowledge Bowl Competition on Tuesday March 6 for high school students. Any interested student can sign up to be on a team. We expect to receive questions for the qualifying round at the end of the month as well.
Expect to see some more posts later in the month! I promise to keep you updated more frequently! As always, any questions, concerns or comments about the 7-12 T.A.G. are welcome!
Are all students gifted in some way? 10/12/2011
Mrs. Sheffield sent me the link to this article and I thought I would pass it on here. It offers an interesting perspective on gifted education.
For me, I focused on the final question:" How do you identify, recognize, accept and utilize giftedness in your classroom?"
I think the answer to this question will vary for everyone and will evolve with time.
Why am I blogging? 10/05/2011
I have decided to start a blog for two purposes.
The first is to keep students, parents and teachers updated on the happenings of our talented and gifted program. I will share updates on program accomplishments , for example contest results and general program information.
The second is to share insights and articles that I have come across as I research other T.A.G. programs in our state and country. If I find an article I think is interesting or gives lesson plan ideas I will post it to my blog and explain why I chose it. If you follow me on twitter, I will also make an effort to post content articles on my twitter feed.
I will be blogging at a minimum on a weekly basis with the goal to post more often when the information warrants it! If you have questions or comments, please feel free to post to my site or email me!
